Office of the Deputy to the President

The Office of the Deputy to the President is a subset of the Office of the University President. The Deputy to the President deputizes for the University President in his absence. In addition to deputizing for the University President in his absence, this office is expected to lead the Subcommittee of the Academic Board as assigned. The Office of the Deputy to the President acts as a liaison between the university and its external stakeholders, other educational institutions, and industry partners to promote efficiency and effectiveness.

The Deputy to the President is also responsible for managing and overseeing the following four units: the International Affairs Office, Research Agenda and Publication, the Quality Assurance Department and the University Library

Departments

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS OFFICE

Though the office is presently not staffed, the responsibilities are managed by both the Deputy to the President and his Executive Assistant. All issues relating to external affairs such as the management of partnerships to include MOU are attended to. In the recent time, the University has signed several Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) and Memorandum of Agreements (MoAs) with other educational institutions and corporate organizations. These partnerships are to be managed in the interest of the University and the various partners.

RESEARCH AGENDA AND PUBLICATION

The university serves as a knowledge hub for its clients and the Maritime and Shipping sectors in the Caribbean. The unit supports academic writing and publication through research activities and publishes the university's journal - The International Journal of

Maritime Themes. Additionally, the unit is in the process of establishing a new journal with Emerald Ingenta. The unit coordinates and plans the bi-annual Industry/Academic Conference.
