Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation
This department is an advisory unit and is responsible for the drafting of the University’s strategic plans and monitoring of the University’s Operational Plans (OP). The Department provides guidance, advice, and technical support to integrate results-based planning, monitoring and evaluation across all University works so that we can together produce impactful results. Two units support the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation department. These are: Strategic Planning Unit and Monitoring and Evaluation Unit led by the director of the department.
The Director, of Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation organizes and directs the overall operations of the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Department, including budget preparation. The Director will coordinate the preparation, monitoring, and evaluation of strategic and operational plans. The director also coordinates the management tools and promote the standardized use of the instruments. The Director serves as an internal consultant on committees and boards and is responsible for the enforcement and coordination of all Strategic Planning and Operational reports and activities.
Strategic Planning Unit
The Manager of Strategic Planning oversees the development and implementation of strategic planning functions to guide the achievement of the Caribbean Maritime University’s mission. The Manager is responsible for planning and directing an organization's strategic and long-range goals conducts organizational reviews to identify strengths and weaknesses and to evaluate operational effectiveness. The Strategic Planning Manager makes recommendations based on emerging trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, the viability of outside business partners, and internal business process improvement. The Manager also oversees the implementation of strategies and is the liaison person between executive management and senior management by guiding and directing higher-level goals and assisting with the operationalization of same. The Strategic Planning Manager ensures that the strategic process is timely, concentrated, and value-added that guarantees strategic preparation highlights, current market challenges, and ensures that goals remain SMART in resolving issues in a proactive and strategic manner.
Monitoring and Evaluation Unit
The Manager of Monitoring and Evaluation develops and implement an appropriate monitoring and evaluation framework that will result in quality objectives and initiatives throughout all divisions and to the greater University. The manager will facilitate the continuous improvement approach to planning implementation and evaluation of the University objectives and initiative, achieve both the short- and long-term organizational goals, and ensure the University meets its expected performance targets as outlined in the strategic plan and policy and procedure documents. The Manager uses modern strategic planning tools and methods to conduct evidence-based assessments of internal and external environments to inform effective formulation and implementation of the University.
To conclude the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation department serves as the support to the president’s Office to maintain and improve operations across the university.
