PROFESSOR IBRAHIM AJAGUNNA, PhD, FCILT, JP
Ibrahim Ajagunna is the Deputy to the President, Caribbean Maritime University. He holds a Higher National Diploma from the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Nigeria, a Master of Science degree in Tourism Management from Sheffield Hallam University, UK, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Technology, Jamaica, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Sustainable Development from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. In 2012, he published a book that looks at planning process for sustainable tourism development using the South Coast of Jamaica as case example. Ibrahim is a co- author of the book From Piracy to Transhipment, Jamaica’s Journey to becoming a global logistics Hub. He has published a number of book chapters, and more than fifty articles in peer-reviewed journals and magazines. He is also a reviewer for Journal of Tourism Management. He is the managing editor, International Journal of Maritime Themes (IJMT) a publication of the Caribbean Maritime University. He is guest editor for Worldwide Hospitality and Tourism Themes (WHATT) where he has co-edited and published four theme issues (2014, 2017, 2020 and 2022). He was a member of the Board of Studies for Tourism and Hospitality, the University Council of Jamaica. In 2018 he was awarded the Emerald Literati Award for his impactful contributions to scholarly research by Emerald Insight. In June 2019, the Prime Minister of Jamaica awarded him Medal of honour for his contribution to education. Ibrahim is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, UK.
